I started this blog for a couple reasons. For one, I am an obsessive writer. I have to write. I need to write the way most people need to eat, sleep and breathe. Words flood my head and I either have to write them down, or they will keep swirling in circles until I cannot focus on anything else! I used to just jot things down on various scraps of paper, but then they started to take over my life. I had pages and pages of stuff sitting around everywhere… all over my office, dining room, bedroom, and stuffed in my purse. All kinds of bits and scraps of paper just covered with words. At first I tried carrying a notebook with me and jotting things down as they come to me. After a while, I realized I need to share some of those writings with the world.
You see, I feel like God is calling me to write.
I am a Christian and I want to share my experiences in my walk with Christ in a way that shows people that the stuffy way they were raised with all the rules, negative repressive and oppressive attitudes is not a true picture of who Christ is. It’s not just about sitting in a pew for an hour each Sunday and then going home to a family dinner. It’s about meeting and learning to trust a Savior who loves you and wants what’s best for you. One who wants to lead you, guide you, and provide for you. One who’ll stick closer than a brother.
My whole life I’ve heard people say, “You better behave or Jesus’ll get you,” and I’ve been told not to do something or “Jesus will be mad”. Well, that’s not Christianity. That’s manipulation. That’s not what Jesus is about. He’s about freedom and grace. He’s about forgiveness.
Hang around me a while, friend, and give me a chance to show you who Jesus really is, how He’s working in my life. How He can work in your life. What it’s really all about. You won’t regret it. You’ll see.
